The Lie You Keep Telling Yourself
I'm getting too old for this...
“We don’t stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing” - George Bernard.
It’s not time that breaks us down - it’s choices.
Choices.
Choices you’ve made 2 years ago led you to where you are now. Choices you make today and tomorrow will lead you to where you will be 2 years from now.
We’ve been led to believe that “getting older” means slowing down, gaining weight, losing muscle, and watching our health decline. But that’s not aging-that’s the result of neglected habits, unchecked stress, and metabolic dysfunction.
Here’s the mindset shift:
1️⃣ Start seeing health as an investment, not an expense. Longevity and health isn’t about fixing problems-it’s about preventing them and addressing them before they arise. Your health is your greatest asset, without you have nothing.
2️⃣ Train your body for the future. Strength and muscle are protective. The stronger you are, the more resilient your body becomes. Hint: The best exercise for you is the one you actually do, consistently. Consistency breeds success.
3️⃣ Master the fundamentals. It’s not about hacks and quick fixes-it’s about consistently getting movement, sleep, protein, quality nutrition, and managing your stress appropriately.
The truth about it really comes down to delayed gratification. We live in a world full of quick fixes and immediate dopamine rushes.
The truth is that change takes effort - this can be hard for most people, including myself some days.
But here is your action for today:
Think of your body, health, and mind 5 and 10 years from now. What do you want it to feel like? What do you want it to be able to do? What are you doing today to get there?
P.s. What is ONE action you will take today that your future self will thank you for? Reply to this email, I’d love to know.
