Healthspan vs. Lifespan - How to Live Better, Longer

I've Been MIA - Heres Why:

Healthspan vs. Lifespan - How to Live Better, Longer

Hey

You may have noticed I’ve been a little MIA with my emails lately. That’s because I’ve been deeply immersed in refining my approach to health, performance, and longevity-both for myself and for the people I work with.

Over the past few months, I’ve been diving into advanced health testing, longevity medicine, and cutting-edge strategies to help people not just live longer but live better. I’ve been integrating this knowledge into my practice and developing a more comprehensive approach to optimizing healthspan-the years you remain strong, capable, and disease-free.

This brings me to today’s question:

Have you ever considered not just how long you want to live, but how well you want to live as you age?

Thanks to modern medicine, many of us will live well into our late 80s. However, according to a 2021 study in the Regenerative Medicine journal, “people tend to live the last 10 years of their life burdened with disease or poor quality of life.”

Simply focusing on longevity doesn’t ensure a healthy life. The goal isn’t just to extend our years-but to make sure those years are full of vitality, strength, and independence.

Healthspan vs. Lifespan

  • Lifespan: The number of years you live.

  • Healthspan: The number of years you remain healthy, free from chronic and debilitating disease.

The earliest definition of healthspan describes it as “the maintenance of full function as nearly as possible to the end of life.” In other words, it’s about being capable and active for as long as possible.

How Do You Increase Your Healthspan?

The first step is Backcasting-a planning method where we define a desirable future and work backwards to identify the steps needed to get there.

You could be:- 30 years old, struggling with knee pain from an old ACL injury that limits your running and skiing.- 60 years old, carrying an extra 30 lbs and struggling to keep up with your grandkids.

Regardless of where you are today, the key is having a clear vision of your goals and creating a strategy to get there.

How We Help You Extend Your Healthspan

We take an individualized approach, starting with assessments tailored to your needs, including:

Advanced strength and mobility testing Sleep and recovery assessments Complete Health + Lifestyle Assessment

& we are working to bring even more advanced testing to help you optimize your life, and live healthy and free from pain for years to come.

If you’re serious about optimizing your movement, function, and health, we are now offering 6 and 12 month programs within our complete system: The Healthspan Project - a program designed to help you maximize your days, months, and years. (Simply reply to this email for more details.)

A Little Hint…

There’s a lot you can do today to ensure your healthspan equals your lifespan. But by the time a chronic disease is diagnosed, it’s often too late to reverse the damage.
